Happenings at SOAR: 6/24 – 7/12

by SOAR Marketing

Summer is going by FAST here at SOAR. We are sad to see our campers come and go but are grateful for the memories we've made along the way.

North Carolina Llama Trek

Llama Trek is one of SOAR’s most popular courses. It is perfect for younger campers who are going to be away from home for the first time. Our counselors understand how hard it may be for some to leave their families and join us on the adventure, especially on the first day. But nothing beats seeing the camper’s faces light up when they get to feed their llama for the first thing. The only thing stronger than the bond between our campers and staff is the love between the campers and their llamas!

North Carolina Canoe Adventure

Did you know campers in our Canoe course get to pick from a list of electives to participate in when they return from their expedition? Electives include archery and hatchet throwing, archery tag, and primitive skills. Primitive skills is a popular elective that teaches campers about survival. From basic fire-starting techniques to building a shelter, campers will leave with a new found sense of wonder for the outdoors.

Florida Keys Adventure

What’s better than fishing on a dock in Key West? We could name a few things, but we know they wouldn’t compare. Our FL Keys participants enjoy fishing as a pass time. The highlight of the trip is a 4-day, 3-night excursion to Dry Tortugas National Park, a beautiful island located half-way between Florida and Cuba and home to Fort Jefferson, a moat-surrounded, octagon-shaped fort dating back to the early 1800’s.

California Coastal Adventure

CA Coastal is one of two satellite courses offered by SOAR this summer. The West Coast offers a plethora of activities and experiences for campers to participate in. Deep sea fishing is one of the activities that is most rewarding, once campers have made a catch they get to celebrate with a fish fry dinner!

Wyoming Canoe Adventure

We love the feeling of being on the water. That’s why Whitewater Rafting is a Core SOAR Activity! Participants get to raft down the Snake River in Wyoming and take in the beautiful scenery. It is the perfect addition to the canoe expedition that campers get to go on!

Wyoming Horsepacking

With pack mules and real wranglers at their side, campers sleep under the stars surrounded by evergreens and soaring mountain ranges on a 4-day, 3-night horsepacking expedition into the Wind River Mountains. The perfect way to explore all Wyoming has to offer!
