This 17 day course is designed for young adults ages 18-25 and focuses on strengthening life skills that are necessary as they transition into adulthood. Organization, time and money management, and social skills are primary focal points of the course while opportunities for participants to practice problem solving and plan some of their own activities as a group are also offered. Staff are present to facilitate processing, provide support, and offer insights to guide participants as they practice these new skills.

For the June Session – Info coming soon! This session will travel to the Salt Lake City area in Utah.

For the July Session – The first few days are spent camping in Yellowstone National Park and concentrating on group development before they travel on expedition to Bozeman, Montana. There they will plan and prepare their own meals and choose activities they would like to do based on a group budget, time constraints, and logistics. Other activities include whitewater rafting, rock climbing, service learning days, visiting Craters of the Moon National Monument, and taking part in a treetop adventure course in the town of Jackson, WY!

First Ascent is perfect for those individuals who are ready to learn and practice skills needed as they continue their journey into adulthood like budgeting, executive functioning skills, time management, decision making and more. Participants leave SOAR with a transition plan including items like long term goals and strategies, as well as feedback and accomplishments from during the course.
