WY Canoe Adventure
Ages 11 – 18, 18 Days
This action-packed 18-day adventure provides campers with amazing opportunities to practice teamwork, develop social skills, and increase confidence as they explore the Wild West on foot, by horse, and by canoe! Campers will begin at Eagle View Ranch, where they participate in games and initiatives designed to promote trust and team building before heading off on their first adventure to Yellowstone National Park. For the next four days, the teams will discover the area’s majestic geothermal features & geysers and abundant wildlife (including bears, wolves, bison, elk and moose).
Next, the team prepares for a 3-day canoeing expedition on Bull Lake. This mountain lake boasts incredible views, and small cliffs perfect for jumping into the refreshing waters! Campers will learn the value of teamwork as they paddle from campsite to campsite, and will reflect on their day each night as they camp on the sandy beaches under the stars.
The course then switches gears as the group prepares for horseback riding, beginning with a day of horse school at Eagle View Ranch’s corrals. Campers will learn how to care for and communicate with their horse before departing on a scenic trail ride overlooking the Ram’s Horn Mountains of the Wind River Range. The journey continues to Sinks Canyon State Park, which will serve as the staging ground for rock climbing and exploration of the Popo Agie River (which vanishes underground before returning to the surface a few miles downstream). Rock climbing provides campers an opportunity to reach new heights as they experience firsthand the benefits of goal setting, problem-solving, and pushing past perceived limits.
Up next, the Dubois Rodeo, a day of hatchet throwing, archery & survival skills, and riflery! What better way to experience the culture of the American West? The final expedition includes a trip to the awe-inspiring Grand Teton National Park where campers will discover Lake Louise and all the incredible wonders of this alpine terrain. The course concludes with a day of whitewater rafting on the Snake River, where campers will get to revisit the teamwork and paddling skills learned on their canoe expedition.
The culmination of this incredible adventure includes the camp-wide “Cowboy Contest” which brings the spirit of summer camp alive at Eagle View Ranch.
My Camp Experience
"The program was great for our family. The lama trek and mountain climbing really build self confidence. Steven made friends and felt liked which was a big confidence boost. He was also able to be a leader in the group. We also really like the low counselor to camper ratio and the intake, debrief process."
