NC Horseback Riding

Ages 11 – 18, 11 Days

Cost: $3,950

NC Horseback Riding Course Highlights:

224 lb camper weight limit

  • The bond between humans and animals provides an opportunity for learning trust, building confidence and feeling empathy toward others, and our NC Horseback Riding course does just that!
  • The feature of this course, Horseback Riding, takes riders deep into the mountains, with their wildflowers, sunsets, and scenic vistas of the Blue Ridge. Campers will bond with their horse as they learn grooming and equestrian skills before they depart on a multitude of day ride adventures.
  • Bravery on our High Ropes course is rewarded with both fun and views as campers navigate a variety of aerial challenges and end with a thrilling zip line!
  • During one of the Horseback Riding day rides, campers will have the opportunity to dig into the earth of a genuine garnet mine!
  • Round two of “high adventure” happens in Pisgah National Forest as our Horseback Riders scale to new heights on Pilot Rock.
  • Rolling, rolling, rolling on a river!! The Nantahala River offers some of the best whitewater rafting in the southeast, and our Horseback Riders get to be part of that excitement!

My Camp Experience

“My son received a level of love, care, growth and encouragement from his counselors – and a sense of comradeship with his cabin mates unparalleled to any other camps/teams/classes of which he has been a part. He is still maintaining (most) aspects of behavioral maturity he developed while at camp. He is better with his communication and has more self-confidence. At SOAR he was surrounded by others with those struggles/feelings similar to his own. He was able to have great adventures and positively work on himself, encourage and be encouraged by others, and develop skills that will strengthen him for a life time. And for these young ones, the whole world is before them!”
