Homecoming Coming Home

SOAR believes in the creation of community through our programs. Once you have attended SOAR whether it be through our ADHD summer camp, boarding school, or GAP year you are apart of the SOAR family.

This October, we welcome you to come home and join us in our annual 5k race for ADHD awareness.

THE REASON

October is ADHD Awareness Month. Some may ask, “What is there to be aware of?” Over 6 million kids between the ages of 4 and 17 are diagnosed with ADHD, and this number continues to rise each year. It is likely that you, your child, or someone you know has been affected by this often misunderstood learning disability. While we know that there are many strengths associated with ADHD, many kids who have ADHD face challenges in the classroom, peer relationships, family relationships, and at home that can have a larger impact on their success as an independent adult. By bringing awareness to ADHD, we can help kids learn to manage these challenges and get on the path to success.

THE CAUSE

SOAR is a private, non-profit organization located in Balsam, NC. For over 45 years, we have served youth and young adults across the United States who have been diagnosed with ADHD and other Learning Disabilities through high-adventure programs, including summer camps, boarding school, and our GAP year programs. Each of our programs is specifically designed to build self-confidence, social skills, problem solving techniques, and a willingness to accept new challenges.

THE RACE DAY CREW

While SOAR has our staff, Gappers, and employees to assist us on race day we are looking for volunteers to help us ensure our run goes smoothly. If you are interested in volunteering click on the button below to sign up!

VOLUNTEER

THE GOAL

All proceeds from the event will go to SOAR’s scholarship fund and directly to the youth and young adults that we serve. Each year SOAR provides meaningful outdoor experiences to students through scholarship assistance. This would not be possible without the support of our community, alumni, and families.
