5 Ways You Can Give to SOAR

by Andrea Wackerle

Today is Giving Tuesday! Giving Tuesday is a global day dedicated to giving back. In the midst of the holiday season, and two whole days dedicated to shopping, it is only fitting that we have a day to give back. Today, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. As an organization that relies and has been blessed by the gifts of others, we encourage you to get involved! Giving doesn’t have to be monetary. There are so many ways that you can give to others, your community, and organizations that have impacted your life.

Here are 5 ways that you can give to SOAR this Tuesday and any day of the year!

1. Spread the Word!

One of the most powerful ways that you can give back to SOAR is to share your experience with others! Sharing a personal story of your child’s success at SOAR speaks volumes to other families who are seeking a support system like SOAR. You can talk with friends and families in your community and share SOAR with your child’s school administrators, therapist, or doctor. Anyone who serves youth diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and LD can benefit from your experience! You can also share your experience with us. We love to hear from parents and are able to help you share your story! Simply email us to share!

2. Give your Time!

Giving your time is so valuable to SOAR. You can give your time by volunteering to host a parent night in your community! Parent nights are an opportunity to fellowship with other families influenced by ADD/ADHD and LD while also sharing the many opportunities that SOAR has to offer. By giving a couple hours of your time, you are helping us share our story with other families who could benefit from the SOAR experience. If you are interested in learning more about hosting a parent night, let us know!

3. Write a Review!

For families who have never been to SOAR, reading a positive review helps reassure their interest and encourages them to reach out to us. You can write a review on Facebook, Camp Ratingz, ADDitude, My Summer Camps, or Teen Life. All of these locations are visible to parents and are a powerful resource that we can refer parents to.

4. Join our Parent Call List!

The SOAR Parent Call List includes parents who are willing to let interested parents give them a call and share their experience with them. Sometimes we speak to parents, and they are unsure if SOAR will be a good fit for their son or daughter. When this happens, we encourage them to give another parent a call, discuss any of their worries, hear someone else’s experience, and then make their decision. After talking to another parent, they usually feel much more comfortable and are ready to be a part of SOAR. If you would like to join our Parent Call List, let us know!

5. Donate to the SOAR Scholarship Fund!

The SOAR Scholarship Fund allows us to provide support that results in life changing experiences for children that could not have attended without assistance. Any amount can help lessen the financial burden for families, and you can trust that youth will benefit from your generosity. We encourage you to make your tax deductible donation online or call us at 828-456-3435 to make a contribution.

When you support SOAR, you are making the Journey to Success possible for youth diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and LD. We are so grateful for the many types of gifts we receive and hope that you will consider giving to SOAR in some way.
